The members of the Congress have on February 8, 2012 sought action against the BJP government in the state of Karnataka, who allowed an Island festival at St Mary Island, which features hundreds of foreign tourists, obscene dances and consumption of ganja. Gopal Bhandari, UT Khader and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah demanded action saying that it was against the Indian culture.
It was a three day event that was organized by the district administration as well as the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation in association with 3W Concepts so as to promote coastal tourism from February 3, 2012. DV SAdanand Gowda, the chief minister said that a report has been sought from the Regional Commissioner and that nothing against the Indian culture would be tolerated.
